We begin with a detailed intake questionnaire that gives us an overview of your life, your family, and the experiences you may want to talk about.
Next, we meet with you for a pre-production conversation. Together, we review the questionnaire, talk through the stories and topics that feel most important, and identify anything you would prefer not to discuss.
Using what we learn during the planning process, we create a personalized list of interview questions and share it with you in advance. You’ll have a chance to review the questions, suggest changes, and make sure we’re focusing on the stories you want to tell.
The questions are there to guide the conversation—not to give you something to study or rehearse. We want your answers to feel natural and spontaneous.
We conduct the interview in your home, where you can be comfortable and surrounded by familiar things.
Our crew arrives about 90 minutes before the interview to set up the cameras, lighting and sound. We’ll work with you to choose the best location and take care to minimize any disruption to your home.
The interview itself lasts approximately three hours, with breaks built in along the way. It’s designed to feel like a conversation rather than a formal interview, with plenty of time to think, remember, and follow stories wherever they lead.
After the interview, we carefully review and edit your film, organizing the conversation into chapters and polishing the picture and sound.
The post-production process typically takes about four weeks. Once complete, your legacy film will be ready for you and your family to enjoy.
Once your legacy film is complete, you’ll have access to a private viewing page created for you and your family.
Your interview is organized into chapters and accompanied by a fully searchable transcript, making it easy to find particular people, places, events and stories. You can bookmark favorite moments, revisit them whenever you like, and privately share clips and chapters with family and friends.
Your story is preserved—and easy to return to whenever you want.
